The Zasanie Cemetery was created by initiative of military authority from Przemyśl in 1915 and up to 1939 it maintained a military cemetery form. After 1939 it was reformed into a communal cemetery.
A metal cross with an inscription: “Pro Patria Mortuis” was placed in the necropoly. It is accompanied by two Russian cannons that were captured during the fights for Przemyśl Fortress. A special place in the cemetery was chosen for the austro-hungarian soldiers who fell in battles for Przemyśl, and for the polish soldiers from WW I.
The necropoly includes the bodies of soldiers who fell during the defensive war between 1939 and 1945, the bodies of Home Army soldiers and civilians murdered between 1943 and 1944, victims of Nazi terror and soldiers who fought with UPA in 1946.
