Grotek the Bear has been placed in the Old Town Market Square, on the walkway connecting the Przemyśl City Hall and the District Administration Office, near the Adam Mickiewicz monument.
The little bear pays tribute to the 20th Przemyśl Territorial Defence Brigade. He wears a military beret and holds the brigade’s standard in his paw.
Grotek symbolizes the close bond between Territorial Defence soldiers and local residents, their readiness to help, and their commitment to the local community. His presence on the Przemyśl Bear Trail also highlights the soldiers' attachment to tradition, local identity, and the city with which the brigade is associated.
Where does the name "Grotek" come from? It refers to the Polish GROT assault rifle, part of the standard equipment used by Territorial Defence Force soldiers.
